I hope you're enjoying the lovely summertime (if you're in the North).
Two months ago, I promised to update on Niacin / Chromium Picolinate.

I've stabilized on about 350mg of Niacin every other night. When I take it I sleep well, lots of dreams, and wake up feeling good, although somewhat dopey. At 350 I flush but not too much. 450 let's say and I'd be "badly sunburnt". Less than 350 and I don't feel the effects. I only take it at night as it does knock one out to a degree.
* Key lesson: I sleep well on niacin, and wake up without am jitters. If I've had sugars or booze the night I may wake up with some jitters but they are greatly reduced. This is a huge win in itself and for other reasons of resting/healing/energy.
The chromium picolinate was really hard for me to figure out. For now, I've started taking it in the mornings and at lunch. About 75mcg each time. That means a bit more than a 1/3rd of a capsule with meals. It really does help, but if I take a bit too much I crash really bad for the day. When using it I definitely cannot do a true low carb diet as that would crash me too. (Not doses are in MICROGRAMS not milligrams)
Like I said it's been a struggle to figure out CP. I know I haven't mastered it yet, but it's very powerful and good. It really does boost up my energy a lot. I find it strange as others seem to be able to take between 200mcg (one capsule) and 1000 mcg (5). Even 2 or 3 might kill me I think by dropping my blood Sugar too critically low.
*Key lesson: Chromium seems really important for those of us with insulin resistance but "standard" routine isn't working for me.
Zinc in combo with Niacin and Chromium are what the body uses for putting energy from the blood into the cells. It's called Glucose Tolerance Factor. Chromium GTF is a brand name of supplement but generally it's used for the term. "Glucose Tolerance Factor (GTF) is synthesized in vivo from absorbed dietary chromium, and acts as a physiological enhancer of insulin activity, binding to insulin and potentiating its action about three-fold."

And, of course, those together *really* reduce cholesterol in a lot of folks. And as high cortisol folks we're likely to have high cholesterol too.
Bonus info:
Oh, with all the improved health I'm noticing effects of individual things a bit easier. I was mostly gluten free but would have stuff from time to time. Recently I've noticed when I do, my GI issues are cranked, my left side is *really* bloated and hard to breathe. I knew that stuff before, but I can now clearly tell that I get heart palps from it too (maybe left side bloating setting it off?). All of that happens in a few for a few hours. Now too I can clearly tell I get depressed for a day or two after (dose dependent).
*Key Lesson: Wheat has to go for me. Interesting that I could only note the direct effects after stabilizing my system and removing other reasons my body would spazz out into heart palps etc.
