tjraije,

I am in strong agreement with you regarding that everyone is different in the recovery process, and that we cannot definitively say that something will help and something will hurt. I will say that us candida sufferers certaintly are the same in regards to our genetic pool. Because there is a reason that candida isn't so well recognized and only recognized in cancer patients or AIDS patients. Because the medical community seems to attribute it to a weakening of the immune system to the point where it cannot control candida. But there is so much more to it than that, it is a combination of certain alleles in our genes that affect our biochemistry, and in turn affect our ability to control this fungus. It does seem rediculous that we develop this ailment, especially when we look at other people who do drugs, drink, smoke, don't sleep, have horrible diets, and still are oblivious to candida and its effects. That is because their genetic code makes it virtually impossible for them to develop this, even though they are more prone to develop other things. This is what has essentially separated conventional medical wisdom from alternative medical wisdom - a differing of people's genetic code. Us people on this forum certainly have some sort of predisposition to some certain types of triggers. We need the trigger to make the illness happen. I personally remember having certain candida like symptoms when I was younger, throughout middle school and high school - until it became systemic in college. Only when I finally chelated for a year have I gotten better and to the point I am now - and only when after I stopped chelation I used glutamine 3 times a day for a total of 15 grams and also slippery elm, DGL, Aloe vera - all three times a day - do I feel incredible relief - I feel 95% cured. I have also incorporated coffee enemas and infrared saunas - as well as minerals, b vitamins, vitamin c. I feel like after years of abuse from metals since I was a young child - my body forgot how to function - making it easier for candida to thrive. And only when I eliminated the metals and essentially reminded my body how to fucntion - stimulating my liver and relieving inflammation in the process - have I been able to feel almost cured. I feel like I have a very little way to go - but it was only because I first chelated - and then stimulated my bodily processes to work again and relieve inflammation that was gained over the years. I certainly agree with you that we have to relief inflammation and take the load off our bodies - because this has developed after years and years of abuse that we had no control of - because of our genetic background. And it is very important to rid oneself of the underlying cause, and one to realize that it is a combination of many allelic genetic variants that contributed to this disorder. There certainly isn't one clear cut way to heal though....good luck.
