I think you were wise to get the followup hair test in light of the use of Zn and Mo to try to reduce Cu.

From my count, the second hair test in the #506 series does not quite match Cutler Rule 5. While you are 1 short for Rule 3, you seem to be 2 short for Rule 4.

More importantly, you are taking Zn and Mo for the high Cu. I don't know how much of them you are taking. If you are taking high doses, it might account for the high levels in hair.

Are you taking too much Mo and Zn? Obviously you don't want to cause additional problems with them.

Cutler also at least hints--in an old Yahoo group post and in his hair test book--that we should consider other factors related to the high Cu. I think liver and bile flow are two. I think these could also be issues when using ALA. I'm sure there is more on this in his book in the Cu section.

There are tips on schizophrenia and bipolar in his Amalgam Illness. I was once on two psych meds (Dr finished weaning me off the last of them a few months ago). I would discuss some of Cutler's tips with my doctors.

I strongly think you would benefit from cross posting in the Yahoo Frequent Dose Chelation group. There are folks there who have experience with copper and others who are dealing with bipolar. They might have something for you about using ALA with your current Cu issue.

I hope you started on low doses of DMSA--not greater than 12mg every four hours. I sure hope you are getting adequate supplement support, including magnesium. I would not be in a big rush to add ALA. I'd want to carefully see how I'm responding to DMSA and allow it to clear some Hg and other HMs from the blood for at least a few weeks.

I also suggest that you get on board in the FDC group just in case you feel something strange. They get 1800 posts per month and have several experienced moderators checking in several times per day.

I kept my doctors in the loop as I was chelating on a regular basis just in case they suspected that something needed to be addressed or monitored.

Best regards,

Joe
