Not having a Medicare supplement policy could really hurt the saving if you should have a long term illness. Since Medicare only covers 80% of medical bills most retirees feel safer taking out a Medigap policy which is government regulated. Medigap cost are very low compared to other polices and there is no physical required. Here is a good article for anyone interested.
