Great questions... I have wondered the same thing you are in question #2 and have not been able to find an adequate answer yet. I do know that Schulze and Uny have said its is OK. My initial thoughts are that benonite clay and charcoal are for absorbing poisons not useful minerals and enzymes but a more complete answer would be appreciated.
