Candida can adapt to an acid or alkaline environment. Fungal candida can create ammonia from amino acids and then raise the ph to create more of nuetral to alkaline state. The reason why you might feel better on a low fat, low protein diet is that candida is producing less of its protease and lipase enzymes outside of its cell membrane in which can damage/inflame tissue. Eating broccoli and spinach, rice, potatoes is most likely not going to cause candida to leave because there is nothing really in those foods for candida to want to leave. That diet is keeping candida's damaging enzymes to a minimum. But eventually you'll have to reduce candida's numbers to a minimum and repopulate your gut with good flora or you could be finding yourself on that diet for god knows how long.
I went on a almost fat free/low calorie diet for 2 1/2 months with intentions of starving the candida in the colon. I ate just enough at each meal so that there would be no nutrient value food left over for the candida in the colon. After 2 months I felt great and thought I was on my way of being cured but all it took was less than 2 weeks of a bad diet and the candida was back in full force. My problem is after 2 months I should have continued the diet and started to reduce candidas numbers and do probiotic enemas/probiotics internally?. I have trouble doing this almost no fat diet in the winter time because I work outside in the cold weather and I need some fat to keep my metabolism/energy levels up. Potatoes and rice dont cut it. My point is... that eventually candida's numbers has to be reduced to a minimum and the gut repopulated with good flora. Trying to "rebalance" the gut with the proper strains and levels of good flora is why many of us have been at this battle for so long. Its a very complicated community that has to be in proper balance to remain healthy.
