Simple, read "Body Electric" by Dr. Robert O. Becker where he explains the presence of biological semiconductors. A semiconductor junction has the ability to rectify electrical signals.

This is one reason why some people can hear certain radio stations through a tooth or in their brain.

Before this was explained, people used to go literally insane from this phenomena, hearing voices in their heads.
