Being halogen, it probably emits a wide range of infrared. It seems to be optimized for maximum heat. You should be able to find information on what frequency of light it emits. If not you can ask Philips.

Use it regularly for long enough to form your own opinion about whether or not you think it is effective. Then come back to this forum and let us know.

Ultraviolet may be more effective.
