You're basically modulating a higher frequency. The carrier or back frequency has to be above 1 MH to pass through the human body.

I imagine the F165 is using an amplitude modulation like the example in the link below. Haven't checked it out with a scope though yet.

You have a high frequency signal that is changing in amplitude to the lower audio frequency.
