The Barnes basal temperature method is done first thing in the morning before getting out of bed. Another way to test your temperature is to do oral temperatures during the day, as you've done. If you take them 3, 6, and 9 hours after you get up in the morning and then average those three temps, you'll get a bit more information about what's going on during the entire day. If the average varies by more than 0.2-0.3F day-to-day, your adrenals are probably struggling. Thyroid groups generally recommend either a mercury or Geratherm thermometer, as they've found digital thermometers to be unreliable.
