I believe that anything that doesnt contain b2 would "deplete" the body for the vitamin, and also the other vit Bs.
yes, they are needed in most processes of the body; so if you take boron in therapeutic dosages, or Iodine or preferably both, it will start a process that puts a demand on the body to work on a higher level.
Thats why we stress the companion vits and minerals in the Iodine protocol. A good diet of course + supplements as needed.
I have been riboflavin deficient once; The symptoms are, among others cracks in the skin / membranes; my lips was bright red and very sore.
Edit; this happened after my first pregnancy; I actually found a picture that is very similar of what I looked like back then;

After taking boron in excess the last four years I can assure that none of these symptoms have reappeared, but I had some tendencies while I was hypo T (before Iodine and boron)
