PBS has been running a Wayne Dyer series in my region that has included
mention of the spiritual healing of his leukemia by John of God in Brazil.
He's mentioned other similar healing modularities and also had a few words from
Anita Moorjani, author of "Dying To Be Me: My
Journey from Cancer, to Near Death, to True Healing," who during a near
death experience, found her spiritual self and knew that in returning to her
body it would be healed. Because I've survived prostate cancer, lung
cancer (twice) and am currently dealing with multiple myeloma I bought Anita's
book and have recently finished reading it. I've found it one of the best
healing books that I've ever read.
Basically the book relates a bit about Anita and her
Indian background while growing up in Hong Kong and attending British schools,
her diagnosis and four year battle with lymphoma, and the fateful day she was
transported to the hospital in a coma dying from her disease, and the spiritual
experience she had during her coma. The book description below is a pretty
good summary of what you will find in the book but I'd like to add a few
comments as well.
Anita had a four year battle with lymphoma and during
that time refused chemotherapy (because her best friend died from cancer and had
used chemotherapy) and instead pursued at various times, Ayurvedic, Traditional
Chinese Medicine, and Western alternative medicine. She found that each of
these disciplines conflicted with each other - primarily in the area of
diet. She eventually mostly relied on ayurvedic and even went to India for
six months - to study it one on one with a teacher of this discipline. All
of that brought her to her coma and her NDE where she knew that if she chose to
return to her body that it would heal. She did have a choice. Within
three days of returning to her body and awakening, her cancerous lesions were
reduced by 70% and she eventually returned to full health.
I practice a daily meditation that includes the
clearing of my chakras which allowed me to relate to many of the things that
Anita experienced both before, during and after her NDE. (Anita still
practices meditation and did so prior to her coma.) Prior to her NDE she
says "I had been a people pleaser" and she always put the feeling of
others before her own. She has switched that one around. Prior to
her NDE she had tried to create things in her life by "thinking" about
them but learned that it is more productive to let the "things" go and
simply allow them into her life. She still uses meditation as a means to
become clear about things which is one of the reasons I use it as well.
All in all it is simply a wonderful story about
spirit and spiritual healing. The illness and healing has been verified in
detail by an American Dr. Ko. I recommend this book to anyone who has or
is dealing with cancer or has a friend or relative with cancer.
I have no connection in any way with Hay House
publishing, Wayne Dyer, or Anita Moorjani.
In this truly
inspirational memoir, Anita Moorjani relates how, after fighting
cancer for almost four years, her body—overwhelmed by the malignant
cells spreading throughout her system—began shutting down. As her
organs failed, she entered into an extraordinary near-death experience
where she realized her inherent worth . . . and the actual cause of
her disease. Upon regaining consciousness, Anita found that her
condition had improved so rapidly that she was able to be released
from the hospital within weeks . . . without a trace of cancer in her
body!
Within these
pages, Anita recounts stories of her childhood in Hong Kong, her
challenge to establish her career and find true love, as well as how
she eventually ended up in that hospital bed where she defied all
medical knowledge.
As part of a
traditional Hindu family residing in a largely Chinese and British
society, she had been pushed and pulled by cultural and religious
customs since she had been a little girl. After years of struggling to
forge her own path while trying to meet everyone else’s
expectations, she had the realization, as a result of her epiphany on
the other side, that she had the power to heal herself . . . and that
there are miracles in the Universe that she had never even imagined.
In Dying to
Be Me, Anita freely shares all she has learned about illness,
healing, fear, “being love,” and the true magnificence of each and
every human being!
This
is a book that definitely makes the case that we are spiritual beings having a
human experience . . . and that we are all One!
