One conclusion of the study was that doctors and nurses need better education in nutrition and hospitals need to employ more nutritionists - http://www.nature.com/ejcn/journal/v66/n3/abs/ejcn2011149a.html?WT.ec_id=EJCN...

Hospital food has had a horrible reputation for decades and continues to be a problem. The fact that doctors and nurses don't consider nutrition demonstrates how unconcerned they are about health. Their focus continues to be on disease and drug protocols. Hospital systems are not designed to get people healthy. The quality of the nutrients they provide is also the farthest thing from their minds. The physiology of the body is unimportant to them, only a patients response to drugs matters.
