what are you suggesting he do with a tooth that has been bad for years? It isn't going to get better he needs to have it out. The acuteness of the condition is being dealt with, then it needs to be removed. To insure he feels no pain, he needs to explain the situation and how many times it has happened to his surgeon. I am sure they will remove it painlessly. Lots of good options.
