This is brilliant! Thanks for the reference and as you said, it only to a second to find this online. I studied the Bible and a few of the discarded books back in my teenage years but never, ever realised that this was around (or what I read was perverted by western interpreters?) I can see why the Church and many leaders wouldn't want this message being bandied about.

I'm not a fan of religion at all and would never see the bible as anything other than a work of men but what I've just read of The Essene Gospel of Peace Book 1 http://essene.com/GospelOfPeace/peace1.html
is blowing my mind. It's almost identical to what HM Shelton and his predecessors re-discovered and named Natural Hygiene. Eating fruit, sprouted grains, abstaining from meats and other substances that are food for animals and not for man. I'm a little surprised about the milk but even the Hygienists believed that raw milk was acceptable.

All the warnings about the danger of eating cooked foods, of mixing too many foods, gluttony are all part of the Hygienic message as is the principle of eating the first meal at midday and the second at evening time. And lo and behold, even the weekly one-day fast is included.

It's very interesting the commandment not to kill which is therein spelled out to mean that it's wrong to kill anything: human, animal, plant. Eat of the fruits, drink the milk of beasts, make bread from grains but no killing! In other words, eat living foods to gain life.

Too interesting to bypass so I will study this further and marvel at it.
