Yeast like candida grows better in alkaline environments, alkilizing yourself does not get rid of candida (but can be good for our health in other respects). I've seen many posts from people who made them selves more alkaline, and even proved with ph paper that they became alkaline on special alkaline diets, and still had candida.
Another poster put it this way: "look at how fungus/mold grows on food. Once the food loses its acidic properties it starts to grow mold on it. The more alkaline the food is the faster the mold will grow on it. The friendly bacteria (which produce lactic ACID)help our intestines by producing beneficial acids to keep fungus from growing. Acids are what keep mold from growing ---caprylic acid, undecenoic acid, ascorbic acid, sulfuric acid(garlic), acetic acid, sorbic acid etc...."
