The only way she was able to kill so many coyote puppies is that we are plagued with them, they are so thick they kill every cat, squirrle, etc they can get their mouths on and they mate with the local stray dogs and are a threat to all small children. When I was a child dog packs were common and a pack approached me when I was about 5 in our garden and I remember Mom came running with a broom and they challenged her and she smaked their heads and they fled, next day all our sheep were dead from these dogs/coyote mix.
I actually have the German Shepard so the boys can play outside, otherwise I would not trust the coyote/dogs. The German Shepards can't hunt, but they can be a killing machine and will die protecting a human child from harm. Quackers is actually alive because of the current Shepard. One morning about 4-5 winters ago when I left for work, the coyotes came and attacked the ducks, the Shepard jumped on the packl of coyotes and my wife woke up and said about 5-6 coyotes had the Shepard stetched and duck feathers were flying every where on the ice, Quackers ended up being the only survivor of a high of 25+ ducks at one time. The German Shepard hates the coyotes, but she does not have the killing instincts my last Shepard had. The curret dog stays at home, while the previous dog would hunt the coyotes on her own.
Mrs. Quackers has a name, the boys call her Brownie. She is a wild mallard and all brown, why she did not fly south with the local ducks as they flew by is a mystery, her instincts have been polluted by bread and corn, she is basically ill enough to loose her Natural Instincts.
Quackers stands straight up, what they call an Indian Runner, but he is mixed and able to fly short distances. In the coldest of winter he will let me pick him up and the rest of the year he takes care of himself.
It is a tuff life to set on frozen ice and snow for months with no food, I guess we should remember this when we complain our live's are not as good as wish they were.
Blessings,
MH
