7 Tips To Overcome Morning Stiffness
Morning stiffness is a very common situation that we back pain sufferers often encounter after a night’s sleep. You don’t have to let morning stiffness spoil the start to your day.
Rather than reaching for that bottle of muscle relaxant like Motrin, or pain relievers like Aleve, you can make use of these 7 tips to start your mornings on a better note.
#1: Make sure you are getting ample deep sleep so your body has enough time to repair and recharge. Stop thinking about your work issues; they can be addressed and handled the day after. And be sure to sleep either on your back or side, and avoid sleeping on your stomach as it causes unnecessary stress on your low back and spine.
#2: If your room is rather drafty, make sure you seal all the windows and doors. If it is cold, use a space heater or get more blankets to prevent that cold and dampness from stiffening up your muscles.
#3: Do some light stretches while lying in bed, and also while sitting down. This will help to stretch and loosen the muscles, flush them with more blood, and help them to heal.
#4: Take a hot shower! Doing so will induce sweating, promote better blood circulation, and relieve muscle spasms.
#5: After getting warmed up from the hot shower, you can do some simple knee bends. You don’t need to go all the way down either, just try to go as far as you can without falling over. For safety purpose, find a counter, table, or chair to grab on to for support. Exhale as you squat as low as you can go, and inhale as you stand up again. For a start, do 10 of these in the mornings to get your blood flowing.
#6: Drink the best quality water you can get. It’s not a good idea to drink straight out of the tap. My advice is to drink either bottled water or reverse osmosis filtered water.
#7: When it comes to food, cut down on simple carbohydrates and learn to read the labels on your foods to avoid eating more toxins. Anything that has artificial flavoring or coloring in it, stop eating them.
Try this steps. and learned from this.
