I just wanted to share about my situation, as I went on here many a night looking for help with my EC. I suffered with EC for over a year. Although I am not 100% sure what started it, my dermatologist suggested that it started after I moved from a wetter climate to a drier one, of which was hometown. I had lived in the wetter climate for 3 years. Well within 2 months of moving back home my EC started. I had no idea what it was at first. I had severe inflammation and swelling, cracking lips, peeling lips. Mainly on the lower lip but as time went on it moved to spots on my upper lip. Certain foods would irritate my lips, so I altered my diet. So finally went to see a dermatologist to get help. She prescribed a steroid cream. That helped the inflammation but obviously didn't cure me. I tried so many things, lip balms, drinking tons of water, naturalistic remedies, glycine, tom's toothpaste, well, honestly I tried it all. Nothing would work, until Fall-winter started and our place got really dry. We decided to get humidifiers for each bedroom and a whole house humidifier. The next day my lips showed 80% improvement. Inflammation gone, just some peeling skin remained. The next 1-2 days of using the humidifier and they were 100% fine. I for about 1 week didn't use it and I noticed the inflammation was starting to come back. So I made sure to use the humidifier that night and again my lips were fine. They have been better now for ~5-6 months. I am so relieved they are better. I hope this tidbit helps all you out there. I wanted to share in effort to help someone else suffering with EC.
