I am not aware that Chlorella has B12 analogs. Many people are critical of it as a reliable source because of the problems with other algae like Spirulina which DOES contain B12 analogs, but I believe that Chlorella has a good amount of human active B12.

B12 status in humans is typically measured by serum B12 levels. This has proven to not be a reliable indicator of true B12 functionality. The best test is measuring UMMA (urinary methylmalonic acid levels) which measures tissue B12.

Absorption depends mostly on the enzyme "Intrinsic Factor" within the intestines and where this can be greatly inhibited by eating a protein with a starch at the same meal. Carbs' require an alkaline medium for digestion, whereas proteins require an acid medium. One will take precedence over the other in digestion and allow the remainder to ferment or putrefy to some extent: this will inhibit this enzyme production leading to Pernicious anemia or a B12 deficiency.
