While I can respect this ND's concern, he is not taking into consideration the heavy amounts of chemicals and pollutants like fluoride and bromine we are bombarded with daily, with which the balance of Iodine will remove these from the body. And bromide is even in the vehicle exhaust that we are forced to breath. Not to mention excessive radiation we are exposed to daily as well.
It's obvious that they ought to seriously consider other reasons for the cause of Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. Back in 2000 I was diagnosed with this. A few years later I started high-dosing with Iodine daily for almost a year or so.
As of a few years ago I get tested for Hashimoto's and there is no Hashimoto's to be found. I even stopped Iodine for awhile, now I have been taking 12.5 mg. daily just because it makes me feel good. :)
In any event I am more concerned about the high doses of bromide, fluoride, and radiation that we are getting, than iodine. In this case iodine can only help, not hurt.
