I've suffered from Psoriasis and psoriatic Arthritis these past few years.

Now, I was never aware of alkaline/acid food theory. I confess to having bad eating habits, but I figured I could play it safe by taking a Centrum tablet each day.

Earlier this week I bought a few bags of nacho chips and a big block of cheddar cheese.

And in typical "seeking pleasure" fashion, I ate cheese nachos for breakfast, lunch and dinner all week last week. It tasted good of course :) But when it came to pay the piper...

It all caught up to me on Saturday morning as I woke up with severe arthritic pains in my thumbs and my right knee. Much more than usual.

A bit of googling, I came across websites that discuss Vitamin D cure. Now, I've tried supplementing my diet with Vitamin D, but this had little effect on my arthritic pains. But there was a table that mentioned pH balance of foods listing foods to take and to avoid.

So these past few days I've been making sure to eat fresh fruits and vegetables with every meal. I did "cheat" by having a slice of pizza on Sunday, but I recognize that it's impossible to avoid 'acid' foods all of the time. I also have been taking 4000 IU of daily Vitamin D supplements.

But after eating more sensibly since Saturday, the arthritic pains in my thumbs is subsiding. And when I went to the gym this morning I could swear that I felt stronger and less fatigued than usual.

There may be something to alkaline/acid food theory. Now, I won't completely deprive myself of acid foods, but I will certainly consume them in moderation. When I go buy groceries later today, I will buy raisins for sure (which seems to have a very high level of alkaline according to websites), along with fresh fruits and vegetables.

What is everyone's opinions of potato chips and french fries> Some charts and tables list potatoes as having a 'moderate' rating for alkaline or acid, but opinion remains divided on these. It's kind of like milk--some opinions are positive and negative, but many consider it a wash because of it's calcium content.
