Hi FastingDiva,

It's actually not unanimously believed that fasting is inefficient for weight loss. I know of one lady that fasted 21 days and lost about 21 pounds and kept it off. Another lady who fasted 122 days (in segments) and lost 75 pounds that were still off 6 months later in the update video i saw. Both of these ladies are on youtube. I myself about 3 years ago maintained about 20 net pounds of permanent fat loss after fasting for 30 days. If we examine the actual facts it's perplexing to see how many people feel that fasting is ineffective for weight loss.

Now on the other hand and to present the most balanced possible story, all 3 of these cases were accompanied by a healthful lifestyle change post-fast which is absolutely essential. With a return to unhealthy (over)eating, an individual can definitely and easily and quickly gain all of the losses back and more.

It is a shame too when people miss the immense opportunity before them to gain health by simply fasting with water-only and not adding diet soda and other zero calorie foods (or monstrosities if you prefer), as well as vitamins and minerals which are also contra-indicated, concerning themselves singularly with the weight loss aspect.

I am currently fasting primarily for spiritual reasons. I wouldn't expect everybody to hold this as a high priority, but i would think that health is important for everybody in every belief system or absence thereof :). If someone is going to go to all the trouble of fasting, why not do it right and get the health benefits too? :)
