Thank you very much for that paper. I had seen it previously. You make a very good point about use of DMPS via IV vs oral for Cutler. In practice it is wise to start with much more modest doses for the first round of chelation--12mg is more likely to be tolerated with acceptable sfx. Also some experience fewer sfx while taking it every 6 hours. I encourage folks to do that because is gets them in the habit of waking once per night. They will have to do so while taking ALA.
This is an excerpt of the paper that *tries* to explain Cutler's method of oral chelation.
7.3.3.4 Recommendations for detoxification therapy (section on Hg from amalgam)
...In contrast, Cutler rejected single doses of DMPS as they concealed the risk of redistribution of the heavy metal and thus a deterioration in symptoms. He preferred an incremental regimen. 50 – 100mg DMPS are administered three times a day in the first stage of treatment. Treatment is administered in intervals. 4 to 14 days of DMPS therapy are followed by a treatment interval of 4 to14 days. If the deposits that can be mobilised most quickly are emptied in this way (criteria for establishing this finding are not given), the additional recommendation of liponic acid isrecommended. Treatment is continued for 6 months to 2 years. The heavy metal deposits in the brain should be mobilised in this way <459>
. The approach to first of all empty the deposits that can be quickly mobilised in order to prevent redistribution of heavy metals in the brain followingmobilisation seems logical. Unfortunately there are no clinical or laboratory data to confirm theeffectiveness of this treatment regimen.
