having extra KI around is important for several things. one, its a cheap way to up your dose. it is a great companion to Lugols or magnascent. two, there is always the possibility of a nuclear emergency, be it a power plant gone bad or the world war that seems to be brewing. shelf life is as long as the rubber holds out - possibly decades. it is also a gentle way to introduce iodine, both to yourself and others. it is the form of Iodine my grandson takes and he is 17 months old.
