Does long-term use of Chinese licorice root cause a potassium imbalance?

The only way this could happen would be if taken in extremely high doses for many months or if there is some other contributing cause such as being on steroid therapy, other drugs that deplete potassium, the body is not regulating its potassium, etc.

I have been having a very dry mouth lately and some cramping in my toes and legs. The only things I have changed in my routine is adding the LR, stopping magnesium for a couple of weeks because of loose BMs and decreasing my buffered Vitamin C (which has calcium in it). Could any of those cause an imbalance?

Magnesium deficiencies can lead to the cramping.  Low magnesium is a more common cause of this than low potassium.  Maybe  try the magnesium again at a lower dosage.

The thirst problem could be from several things, not just low potassium.

I am trying to get my nutrients by food when possible so any food suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Vegetables and seaweeds will provide the most nutrients, so I recommend focusing on these in your diet.
