In the last couple of years, I have been experiencing cold hands more and more frequently. I don't see any symptoms of Raynaud's Disease or poor circulation. I don't feel cold except in my hands. During this same period, I have been eating a diet high in omega 3 fatty acids, primarily from vegetarian sources: fresh ground flax, leafy green vegetables, raw walnuts, and raw brazil nuts. My diet is lower in carbohydrates than that of most people I know. I eat some grains every day, but grains are not the core of any meal. Is something about my diet a likely cause? Things that have remained constant as my hands have become colder are that I have always been a vegetarian, I get plenty of physical exercise, I am thin, but not alarmingly so. Other constants include the following: I don't smoke. I don't drink coffee. I'm not taking any prescription medications. I don't use illicit drugs. I drink alcohol a few times a month. I take supplements of vitamins C, D, and E and zinc. Stress in my life has been decreasing in recent years.
I suspect that there can be dangers associated with eating superfoods. So I am alert for symptoms of toxicity. One possible cause I have wondered about is the effect of the cyanide in raw flax and nuts. But I haven't been able to find anything supporting this.
Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.
