Yes a cheap juicer is better than none. I started life with a Jack Lalane that I stayed with until I could afford a $200 Omega (or at least get it through wife approval).

Over the long run they're more expensive since the price of good organic veggies add up every month. And not getting the full nutritional compliment in addition to having the oxidized juice just not taste as good is quite expensive over the long haul.

The math:

Omega 8000 series juices = $220 new. I've had it working like a champ for 5 years and counting. If it broke tomorrow, it's cost me $3.67 per month. I easily spend $40 per month on organic veggies.

If I'm losing 30% of the nutritional content that cost is $12 per month - so I'm losing $12 per month to save $3.67. Add to that that the omega will last at least 3X what an inexpensive juicer will under moderate use and you're losing money both ways with a cheap juicer.

But even if you have to spend more over the long run for the cheap juicer, the money you'll save by going to the doctor less often, tossing your pharmaceuticals will still result in big savings in healthcare costs.

You can do what I've done and pocket the difference by raising your health insurance deductible to lower your monthly payments. And spend the savings in healthier food, supplements and juicing.

Now THAT'S a health plan!!
