It is easy to assert that a system has little philosophical basis when one has clearly done little deep reading into the subject! Unfortunately, these kind of sweeping statements are often made about Wicca because Wiccans themselves believe that it is a form of mental violence to prosyletise, and therefore do not bother to correct them. This statement can be applied to the kind of loose neo-paganism that is practiced by 'new-agers', but not to the initiatory system that is Wicca. Wicca has three degrees, each which represents a path-working in itself. The third stage involves the recognition of emptiness through the dissolution of the boundaries between self and the God/Goddess. Once this realisation has been achieved, the initiate vows to return life after life for the good of all beings; which is not unlike the vow taken by the Bodhisattva.
It is not possible to reach this level without intense practice and deep learning, which implies 'content', my friend.
Most Wiccans abstain from the use of hallucinogenic drugs and other mind altering substances because it distorts the clear mind needed for ritual, as well as attracting unhelpful entities.
