always 3-4 days? This is the window when the body goes to plan B, for its food. There is a very faint chance you are one of the few people that have an enzyme abnormality (I think it is) that means the body doesn't 'switch over' into ketosis: or burning fat. So the blood sugar would go low enough that perhaps you would faint. Chrisb would be more well-versed in the specifics than I am. I forget the name of it, and even the exact science, sorry. It was enough for me to learn it, and then remember just that. A small percentage of people are not able to water fast, I have read, in the fasting literature. But usually the condition is rare enough that a doctor would have told you about it, I believe. That is,it's my understanding that somehow it would have shown itself on their various tests.
EDIT: I see I was wrong that there would likely be some foreknowledge of this condition. See Chris's post beneath this.
This would be one reason supervised fasts have historically been encouraged. There are only two BIG contraindications to water fasting--one is fear; the other would be this condition, though actually it deserves first place. And a possible third, that was not such as issue in, say, Shelton's day, and the other "fasting masters", as I refer to them, is "low mineral reserves". Ours, at this time in the world, are usually very low, and our toxic load quite high. This is another subject, and one at the absoute centre of Natural Hygiene, but one that deserves to go hand-in-hand with water fasting, in anyone's study and understanding of the process, and its intricacies. End EDIT
:)
maybe Chris will chime in
Oh!!! I just re-read you said on the 5th day! Then it is unlikely you have the abnormality I mentioned. (And it's rare) Perhaps your mineral reserves are very low. You might do well to do some juice feasting of orange and green leafy veg. for awhile, and look into making sure you get nutrient-dense food only. But don't avoid good plant fats!
