hi there Becki !
I just happened to be browsing around the forums and decided to stop here and saw your post.. since you said any help I decided to post .. ( insert grin here)
now I don't know anything about you other than what you posted but I do know what it is like to deal with anxiety and blood Sugar problems
did that panic attack cause your agoraphobia ? ongoing anxiety that starts out suddenly could be caused from a medical condition or vitamin deficiency particularly the b vitamins and vit d all of which affect mood. since you used to drink alcohol that can in itself cause anxiety especially when you just up and stop drinking cold turkey but not likely to cause ongoing anxiety unless like I mentioned earlier you have a vitamin deficiency . and from what I gather you diet wasnt that healthy at all at the time .not sure what it is like now
anxiety can raise blood Sugar temporarily due to the fight or flight response where all of your senses become super stimulated and ready for action.. your muscles tense up and you stomach secretes more acid also ..after your body realizes there is no threat you crash . your blood Sugar drops and you become really tired .if it crashes too far and your liver is not able to pump out more glycogen for you to use it can cause hypoglycemia which can feel like anxiety all over again .. when it gets bad you get the cold sweats and start to shake and feel like you are going to just pass out or die . can it raise your cortisol levels ? it sure can .
I havent posted on this forum in a long time but have since done loads of research on anxiety and its causes .. and I wanna tell you there are many !!
a little history on me
mine started after a car wreck in 96 so I have been dealing with them ever since ..first they were off an on ..then becoming constant ..tried xanax but that only caused more problems than it helped ..took 6 long months to get off them and I wouldnt recommend them to anyone long term .
thinking that I needed to be committed I went to the doctor as a last resort which they offered no real solutions for me except more drugs which I refused . I insisted that they check my vitamin d levels and lo and behold mine came back at 25 !!! half of what they should be !! since then it has been a struggle to get my numbers where they should be but the change in my mental state has turned around so much so that I would consider myself normal now for the most part ..unless I try to cleanse or something then everything gets bad for me again . Vit d deficiency also has been related to diabetes too ! not saying this is what is going on with you but its definately worth checking into ..
I also know that neck problems due to an accident /injury can cause anxiety and whole host of other problems which also is part of my problem too
noticed you have type 1 diabete is that correct ?
sounds like you have some hormones outta whack there for sure . progesterone is a calming hormone ! so you may need to get a thorough hormone blood/urine panel to find out what ,hows and whys of what is going on with you
also you could have a gut flora imbalance which can cause all kinds of problems too ..including mental
you didnt mention your age either
I can only give you some advice on what has helped me the most - I hope it helps you
cut out all sugar - sugar can ramp up your anxiety and make things worse for you
cut out all breads for now - same as above
eat only fresh veggies ,brown rice ,sweet potatoes ,real butter ,extra virgin olive oil, good meats
organic whenever possible
I ate snacks of popcorn made with light olive oil and real butter
I used stevia to sweeten my lemon water to make me some lemonade which I drank every day and stevia is good for diabetics too
cutting out the sugar and breads for me helped my anxiety a lot as in the first day !
I really wish you the best sweetie
sounds like you are really going through a hard time but you will get through this
do some research of your own and get educated as that will help you a great deal . you need to know everything possible
everyone has all kinds of advice but you have to choose what is best for you but you cannot possibly choose the right things to do if you don't know all the options that are out there for you
if you need anyone to talk to or you wanna message me then feel free as I will help you anyway that I can
many blessings
