Hi Cat, a warm soapsuds enema (preferably castile or a mild facial soap like Dove) lowers the surface tension of the water making it easier to penetrate hardened stool and encrusted waste on the walls of the colon.
In doing so it naturally causes some irritation that can cause a bit of cramping, but it also contributes to the success of the enema if you are suffering from constipation.
Following the sse with a Sea Salt solution rinses out the soapy residue and generally leaves me with an enhanced feeling of relief and well being.
While I believe coffee enemas are extremely beneficial, more often I take an sse once or twice a week followed by a Sea Salt rinse.
However, during holiday times like now when I'll be travelling a lot for the next month, I generally try to take an enema daily if I have the opportunity. When I'm eating more than I normally would, flying or driving to friends and relatives, and am under pressure, I get constipated very easily.
