newly minted canadian maples and U.S. eagles... from a local coin shop or an online place like http://www.apmex.com
if there are no shops around you... they take the "spot" price on the international silver exchanges then add a premium. so for price shopping you check how much "over spot" the coin dealer charges.

I myself don't know about buying the old coins.
