Good points T2 and to offer another perspective of something that worked for me and very quickly, my sciatica was completely eliminated through chiropractic before i ever discovered fasting. This was after weeks of using prescription pharmaceuticals which were unable to achieve anything except for a temporary masking of the pain until the vicadin (sp?) wore off and of course this attempted treatment was accompanied by some pretty unpleasant side effects.
