Operative word is "may". Inherent in the language is that increased phytoestrogens also "may not" do whatever they're blabbing about for more research money. That's what good researchers always need more of, money for research, as evident from the end of the article:
"Like most dietary studies, Weaver said these findings are not definitive and need to be considered in the context of further follow-up and confirmation."
Not definitive ? Why write it then ? To me, its hokum with no definitive conclusion, other than the authors want more money for "further follow-up and confirmation".
