I am truly sympathetic to those that have been suffering for years. You're right, I have not had a severe infection until recently, though I have struggled with what I now know is an candida infection for my whole life! ADHD, OCD, alcoholism, social anxiety - all of this has come and gone throughout my life. I've been controlling it by instinct for years by not eating bread (makes me feel ill), cutting back on the booze (makes me feel ill), and eating mostly leafy greens and organic meat (makes me feel good).

Basically, being in tune with my body and avoiding things that make me feel bad and that I now know feeds candida. But it has been a vicious back and forth cycle for 30 years that I was totally unaware of.

I can now see the pattern throughout my life of an explosion of the above mentioned problems right after I had a cycle of Antibiotics !

And so after the birth of my child, we both receiving Antibiotics , and with the stress that comes along with that, it got simply out of control. I was already eating healthy and with a slightly more restricted diet and an antifungal I was quickly able to get it under control in a few months. But I've only been heinously overgrown with it for 2 years when my diet went to crap. To the point of aging overnight, insomnia, and having to eat 6000 calories a day to be 100 pounds. That's a pretty severe infection!

I do not believe that someone is SO overgrown that they cannot heal themselves and improve quickly. I think everyone can get the upper hand in a few months of diligence and the right tactics.

What I'm saying is that everyone posts all these treatments, what seems to work / didn't work for them, etc. but no one says what their symptoms are or what they eat. The threads seem to be just a commentary of what diet, detox, or antifungal they try. Taking nystatin and avoiding Sugar would not do anything for me if I didn't also have a crazy restricted diet with not even supplements for the candida to utilize. I improved quickly because my tactic was severe - I'm not saying everyone should do it this way but need to know you have to attack it on all fronts to get the upper hand. AND we pass this infection on to our kids...

I am not an expert on this by any means, but if others out there cry while watching their 2 year old stare at a blank tv screen and rock back and forth for 20 minutes straight, and then in 3 months can hug me in the morning and say "hey mama!" - then I feel morally obligated to get the word out.

Sorry for another rant! :-P
