I don't know if he says it in his book but brownstein says that he tried SSKI only in his practice but gave up when he wasn't getting very good results.

then after he connected with Abraham he started using Lugol's or Iodoral and a new day dawned, he started getting great results.

since he has treated tons of people I can lean on that.
