I had major social anxiety issues that turned out to be related to food. I am apparently allergic to dairy and eggs, but it wasn't until I did my own Elimination Diet that I found out that flour products cause these issues (nothing shows up in allergy tests for gluten, wheat, or anything else you might expect related to breads, pastas, etc). Doctors would do a preliminary test and if nothing showed up then they said I didn't have any issues with wheat (or gluten or bread or what have you). It might just fall under the "reaction" category as opposed to "allergen" category, but my symptoms from the flour products are way worse than anything I have had from the things I am supposed to be allergic to! A naturopath told me flour products just clog up my digestive system too much, and i should consider myself "allergic". I have tested myself after being cleansed of the flour products, and have found that I get irritability, rashes (even inside my ears!), major fatigue, tingly fingers, something that feels like gout, itchy skin, and major digestive issues, and eventually culminating in paranoia, reclusiveness, social anxiety disorder, and depression. You, too may be having reactions to foods that you never knew were a problem (my symptoms were not overly apparent when I was younger, and I didn't start having the majority of these symptoms until I was about 35; when I look back, though, I did have some symptoms as a kid, but not most of the symptoms that i get now). Just remember your food reaction (or it could be something else you regularly ingest or use) will not necessarily be flour, it could be wheat, or oranges, or pork, or a spice. It could be anything, really! You have to discover it yourself. As to your relationship, if it was stressful, it might have just been the stress that exacerbates the symptoms, and just adding to the "allergy" symptoms. Good Luck!
