I know many people are following a high protein diet and I have to say that I really believe this is harmful for health and not beneficial in curing candida. High protein meals, especially foods like beef, pork, and eggs are extremely acidifying and harmful for the body. I understand why some people are following this diet because it does decrease the symptoms of candida, but it is really just more of a band-aid than an actual cure. It's true that proteins seem don't seem to make the candida grow like carbohydrates do, but they also make the body more acidic making your actual underlying health worse. This is why after following a very strict diet with very few carbohydrates, then you try to add in some carbohydrates and eat some real food and you feel really sick. This is because through your high protein diet, you have actually created an environment that is more conducive to the growth of candida. It is not because the carbohydrates are bad for you. Your body needs carbohydrates, and when your body is in balance, you will be able to properly digest carbohydrates, even fruits quite easily (I am not recommending fruits on the candida diet, I am just saying that once you have healed and balanced your body, they are easily digested and healthy for you).
If you must, you can take a protein supplement, like whey protein, or brown rice protein, but I would limit this to 20-30 grams per day. I'm not a big fan of supplements for the simple fact that they are not real food.
