I don' like to leave any loose ends and leave anyone with the wrong impressions so I thought I'd better dig a little deeper.
Hepatic bile is significantly different in constitution and function to gallbladder bile.
Hepatic bile is alkali (pH 7.0 - 7.8) and increase bicarbonate in response to acid chyme.
Gallbladder bile is acid (pH 6.0 - 7.0) however there is a acid gradient across the gallbladder from a pH of 7.8 for new bile and 6.0 for modified bile and variation throughout the normal filling and emptying cycle. (It is a dynamic scenario)
