My dentist just told me last week I have a bad case of TMJ. I thought it was just teeth grinding (which I never did before Mirena). Anyway, he said that could cause the burning/buzzing feelings under my scalp and face and the headaches in the temple and over my head. I also read it can then cause neck and shoulder tension, and of course the jaws. I never had the popping sound, but the area right in front of my ears would hurt and I am always rubbing it. So then the headache got so bad I had nausea, etc.

Apparently I chewed up my old mouthguard. The new one has helped reduce the pain in my jaws by half, and the headache somewhat as well. I am also supposed to put hot compresses on my jaws before bed time but haven't yet. He also wanted me to take muscle relaxers.

I am starting to think this thing has to be attacked one symptom at a time. . .

Hope this helped a bit. Please let me know if you see dentists or get some answers.
