Last night by 8:00 P.M. his blood pressure was down to 102/54. I have never seen it that low! He had been laying down on the couch after a stressful day of having his physical at the doctors office. I really think the Coleus Forskohlii made the difference, but he was taking other stuff also ( the lisinopril, hawthorn, Vit E and fish oil...Oh yeah and some Chanca Piedra all were in the morning and the Coleus he took 2 at 10:00 a.m. and 2 more at 2:00 p.m.) His exam was at 3:00. His BP was 160/96 and then at 4:45 later on at home, his BP was 119/67. I just wish those effects would stay consistent for the doctor doing the DOT exam.
My husband is going to try going back in for another BP reading this week, maybe by Friday we can get it figured out.
Today so far I just have him taking the Coleus to see how that works by itself.
I have both Ashwagandha and Jiaogulan. I have read some customer reviews of people getting the opposite reaction with Ashwagandha (increased BP and rapid heart beat)and so I've been reluctant to suggest that he take it. There have been a couple of situations where it did seem to give me a pounding heart experience also, but overall Ashwagandha has helped me deal with stress and I really like it. It is definitely one of my favorite herbs.
I think once he gets home I will have him try the Ashwagandha. Then tomorrow he has an appointment with a primary care doctor (we are meeting for the first time). The BP they take tomorrow will be a good test, but it won't count towards the DOT physical.
I will also help him practice the slow deep breaths here at home to help us remember to do them at the office. We will have to get there early and sit around before we check in because last time, even though we got there early they called us in right away.
He passed everything else in the physical except for his blood pressure. He is overweight, but he is a strong, hard worker and he gets more done than most people I know. It's a pity this job is reliant on one factor - His BP (taken at a specific doctors office.)
Thank you for your help James/ Hveragerthi. You are always so kind and willing to help people. You'd make a good Saint! You've already chocked up lots of points for it.
