For a while I was brewing water kefir with cane Sugar and lemon juice at home. It produced an amazing, refreshing, slightly bitter/sour, carbonated taste, almost like an alcoholic drink. The only problem with it was that it was apparently super-acidic, and bleached one of my favorite polo shirts when I spilled some on it while chugging from the bottle. Unfortunately, the crystals died because I was too lazy to keep changing the water.

Anyway, I suggest you buy some water kefir crystals online and see how the taste appeals to you. There is no question that, health-wise, water kefir is a far better alternative than beer, and it may quench your craving for beer thanks to its bitter, tart taste.
