I am new to this forum and to Colloidal Silver as well. For the treatment of sinusitis I bought a nasal spray, for the bottle and dumped out the contents. Then I added on ounce of Vitamin Shoppe Colloidal Silver and one packet of xylitol. I used the spray 5 time a day in both nostrils and everything cleared up after three days. I kept using it everyday for about a week. That was in May and I had reoccurring sinusitis since the previous November.
I have looked into making my own Colloidal Silver based on what I have read it should be made using ac current. Using two silver electrodes the current should arc under water until the desired concentration of silver is reached. I found a partial explanation here:

The particles made are somewhat larger than those of say Mesosilver but they are better than any brand made with silver ions. The process could probably be fine tuned reduce particle size, possibly by using lower voltage or moving the electrodes further apart.
It appears that colloidal silver was usually made using this process or a similar one. If you use the dc battery method then you are making silver ions. Some people say that boiling the solution will convert the ions into metallic silver but I have no idea if that's true.
I believe silver ions do have some antibacterial properties but the colloidal silver will be effective longer. Meso silver seems to be the best but I have not actually tried it. I have ordered a bottle.
I might use silver ions for a topical treatment but I don't think I would drink it. I doubt that ions will turn you blue but I think that ions are more biologically active so they are more likely to react with throat and stomach tissue rather than penetrating the body and getting to where they need to go.
