1st, if you have carpal tunnel you may also be hypothyroid. Blood tests for that are not always accurate. This I found out personally. I had 2-3 false blood tests then wound up in the ER before it was diagnosed.
You might want to check out the stopthethyroidmadness.com for symptoms. If you get cold easily, especially the hands & feet, tend to run low morning temps & have lost hair, especially eyebrow hair, and have gained weight & feel depressed - those are some of the symptoms.
2nd I found it helps a lot to sleep on my back in what yoga calls the corpse position. That way the wrist is not being bent in ways that aggravate the problem. I found the hand braces to cause some problems personally.
3rd I found something called the Beck Sota Pulser to be helpful. I place it against my wrist for at least 5 min. per day.
The Pulser is totally painless but it sends out pulses that I believe help to relieve fluid build up in the Carpal tunnel. It is helpful to the rest of the body too.
Magnetic bracelets have helped me too. If you use magnets you should be sure to get those where the north pole side is touching the body, not the south pole side.
Also I have found it helpful, when drawing (which used to cause me the most problems with cts) to have a little desk top easel that keeps my hand in an upward position. I suspect this could help those who have to write by hand a lot too.
Hope this helps someone. I can now draw for several hours w/o a problem & used to have problems if I drew for just a few minutes.
Oh, I also have gotten rid of all Sugar except what is naturally found in fruits & milk.
