When the castor oil is not cold-pressed, the oil is extracted from the beans using hexane (very toxic).

If castor oil is organic, it can't be processed with hexane; if it's cold-pressed it wasn't processed with hexane.

Most people will be fine with cold-pressed (some prefer organic). I've always used cold-pressed (gasp Uny! lol), because I first got it before I could find a source for organic. When I got the organic, I couldn't tell the difference between that and cold-pressed (which is odd, because I can smell/taste the difference between organic and non-organic produce). 'Must have been some very clean 'cold-pressed' :)

Don't be satisfied with the words: "pure" "all natural" "certified"...if it doesn't say "cold pressed" or "certified organic", don't buy it (or ask/call and make sure that it is).
