Even in the complete absence of physical hunger, emotional cravings can be very strong, yes.  I don't know what's up with it, just that it is :).  Perhaps it is that our mind is more addicted to food than is our body.   Regarding ketosis that comes and goes, what makes you believe this is happening?  I very much believe from anything i have read that once ketosis begins it persists throughout the full remainder of the fast.
