I sure hope that it isn't M, but it does look like the same type of silicone that is like a bio-film for the fibers.
I have never see one as large as the one in your picture. The samples that I could gather were very small.
I could see fibers within the gel with my microscope.

You might want to pick one up at ebay with the range 300-1200.
Glitter, black spects and eggs are the same terminology that is common amoung people who battle M.
