Came across an interesting article on a non-commercial website.
Are enzymes really the life force in raw foods?
Heat treatment tests on seeds disprove raw food enzyme claims
http://www.beyondveg.com/billings-t/sprouts/life-force-enzyme-theory.shtml
The gist of the article is that some raw gurus claim that enzymes are the life force (whatever that means), and are destroyed at temperatures above 118 degrees F. The problem with such a claim is that many seeds can endure much higher heat, for long periods of time, and still sprout afterwards. If enzymes are the life force and are destroyed by such heat, then heated seeds should be dead and not sprout. The article is heavily referenced to scientific studies.
