The effects of heavy metals like mercury are extremely variable, so it is quite possible. A lot depends on how efficient your body is at chelating and how sensitive your body is to the presence of the metal. Your body's immune system reaction will be variable too.

When I was very young, I had a lot of troubles, like chronic kidney problems and emotional issues (I was very withdrawn and anti-social when I was younger. I had what would probably be called ADHD today). My mother had a number of mercury Amalgam fillings when I was born. My early problems gradually went away, but later, I got my own Amalgam fillings (12 or them, actually). My health situation got much worse as I got older.

I've replaced my filings, and I've been chelating for a while, and I feel a lot better.

I'm not 100% sure my early problems were caused by mercury from my mother's fillings, but I have a strong suspicion that they were.
